Easter a Time To Review Jesus’ Story

This week I thought I would share with you a fun video that tells us Jesus’ story.

When my son was young I bought him lots and lots of Lego. Today the video of Jesus’ story will be presented using Lego. (For those that have younger children you can get The Brick Bible).

Jesus’ Story Prompts Us to Examine Ourselves

2 Corinthians 13:5 – Amplified – “Test and evaluate yourselves to see whether you are in the faith and living your lives as [committed] believers. Examine yourselves [not me]! Or do you not recognize this about yourselves [by an ongoing experience] that Jesus Christ is in you—unless indeed you fail the test and are rejected as counterfeit?”

I like that the Scripture says to examine yourself to see if you are a committed believer. It does not say to find out how bad you are, or how far short you have fallen and beat yourself up. It says to test your relationship with Jesus and make sure that you are totally committed to Him.

How Is Your Relationship With Christ

Has your relationship slipped a bit. I know that sometimes when things don’t go my way I like to stop talking to God for a bit – you know act like a little child. Then I have to repent and apologize to God knowing that His love for me has not changed but my view of my situation has blinded my vision of Him.

Romans 8:31-39   – Amplified –  “31 What then shall we say to all these things? If God is for us, who can be [successful] against us? 32 He who did not spare [even] His own Son, but gave Him up for us all, how will He not also, along with Him, graciously give us all things? 33 Who will bring any charge against God’s elect (His chosen ones)? It is God who justifies us [declaring us blameless and putting us in a right relationship with Himself]. 34 Who is the one who condemns us? Christ Jesus is the One who died [to pay our penalty], and more than that, who was raised [from the dead], and who is at the right hand of God interceding [with the Father] for us. 35 Who shall ever separate us from the love of Christ? Will tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? 36 Just as it is written and forever remains written, For Your sake we are put to death all day long; We are regarded as sheep for the slaughter.” 37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors and gain an overwhelming victory through Him who loved us [so much that He died for us]. 38 For I am convinced [and continue to be convinced—beyond any doubt] that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present and threatening, nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the [unlimited] love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

So!

Easter is an annual reminder that we have been purchased with a great price. Jesus’ story demonstrated the love of God towards us all. We have now been given the opportunity to be in relationship with Him.

Scriptures to Ponder

Purchased with Jesus’ Blood

Galatians 3:13-14 – NLV – “13 Christ bought us with His blood and made us free from the Law. In that way, the Law could not punish us. Christ did this by carrying the load and by being punished instead of us. It is written, “Anyone who hangs on a cross is hated and punished.” 14 Because of the price Christ Jesus paid, the good things that came to Abraham might come to the people who are not Jews. And by putting our trust in Christ, we receive the Holy Spirit He has promised.”

Jesus’ Story:  Grace That Offers Salvation

Titus 2:11-14 – NIV -” 11 For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. 12 It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, 13 while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, 14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.”

Honor God

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 – Amplified – “19 Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is within you, whom you have [received as a gift] from God, and that you are not your own [property]? 20 You were bought with a price [you were actually purchased with the precious blood of Jesus and made His own]. So then, honor and glorify God with your body.

Being Chosen Because of Jesus’ Story

1 Peter 2:9-10 – “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 10 Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.”

Conclusion

We have been purchased by the very blood of Jesus. In Jesus’ story we see that God’s love towards us is great and powerful.

How powerful?

Romans 8:9-11 – Amplified – “But you are not controlled by your sinful nature. You are controlled by the Spirit if you have the Spirit of God living in you. (And remember that those who do not have the Spirit of Christ living in them do not belong to him at all.) 10 And Christ lives within you, so even though your body will die because of sin, the Spirit gives you life because you have been made right with God. 11 The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.”

So the big question becomes – How has Jesus’ story impacted the way you relate to Him?
