Could you recognize a counterfeit?

This is a guest post from a very good friend, Mary Anne, who has been such an encouragement to me. May you be encouraged by the words she shares today:

Many years ago, I heard a story about the method bankers and law enforcement use to tell the difference between real and counterfeit currency. Instead of focusing on the changing nature of counterfeits, they study real ones so thoroughly and completely that they can detect even the most subtle change.

So it is with God’s truth. He never changes, for He is the same yesterday, today and forever (Mal. 3:6; Heb. 13:8). As the apostle James reminds us, He does not change like shifting shadows (James 1:17). No matter what comes our way, God has a protection plan in place for us, which was accomplished on the Cross. When we spend the time to know Him and study His Word, we will recognize departures from it. As Christians, we can choose to walk in God’s truth and never turn to the left or to the right (Deut. 5:32). When we fix our eyes on Him, He will keep us in perfect peace (Isa. 26:3). When we walk and talk with Him, we have assurance that He is with us.

Greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world. (1 Jn. 4:4)
